David GarciaDave Garcia:

Dave Garcia was born in South El Paso on December 17, 1953. He went to St.Patrick Elementary School before attending prep school at Jesuit Preparatory. In 1972 he started college at University of Dallas, then finished at Southern Methodist University in Journalism.

During that summer while on his way to Nursing School, KTSM TV came calling. Since David had worked at KROD radio between school semesters, the move to a full-time radio job seemed logical.   Read more about Dave

A high dollar, high profile fightat State

 First News told you that Yelena Bird and John Moraros were
denied tenure some months ago. The resulting flack over their
termination revolved around some pretty nasty emails sent by the
Health Sciences Dean. He resigned over the issue. Bob Gallagher is the
board of trustees president. He says the pair shouldn't have been
hired in the first place. Gallagher says he has paperwork that claims
the two would have sued the university anyway for discrimination. He
says they also haven't let anyone look into their academic records.
Moraros and Bird have released their records publicly and it disputes
what Gallagher said. It looks like the board and the professors will
again head to court. DW/dg
