David GarciaDave Garcia:

Dave Garcia was born in South El Paso on December 17, 1953. He went to St.Patrick Elementary School before attending prep school at Jesuit Preparatory. In 1972 he started college at University of Dallas, then finished at Southern Methodist University in Journalism.

During that summer while on his way to Nursing School, KTSM TV came calling. Since David had worked at KROD radio between school semesters, the move to a full-time radio job seemed logical.   Read more about Dave

Three motorcycle accidents wind up with three dead, and one cop really hurt

It's been a terrible week for motorcycle riders in our area, even for cops…
A horrific motorcycle accident in Central El Paso last night takes
another rider. PD and firefighters found a van on fire and a cycle in
pieces at Huckleberry and Montana. They also found the cycle driver
dead at the scene. They say speed was the reason. A witness at a
nearby club said he saw the cycle blow through a red light and slam
into the van. Its driver is shaken and has been treated at the county
hospital. We can't yet tell you who the cyclist is just yet.
This, on top of the latest word that 19-year-old Melinda Quijano lost
her battle to stay alive. She was violently tossed from the cycle
21-year-old Pedro Nino drove. He lost it, in the Transmountain road
median. He'll survive his injuries…

And NewsRadio can now tell you that 54-year-old Richard Garcia is the
unfortunate soul who lost his life to speed on a cycle as he wiped out
his cycle into the Paisano exit from the Ten West Monday night…
someone found his body some hours after he laid it down there.

It doesn't stop there, either. A Las Cruces cop is feeling a little
better this morning after plowing his police cycle head-on into a
small pickup truck Friday in their Downtown area. The impact was so
hard it actually bounced the cycle backwards for about 50 feet.
