PRO: Possessing fine athletic ability for a man of his size, Stephen Bowen will be given serious consideration as a contributor in on the defensive line in 2007. A very intelligent player who has the versatility to play both the nose tackle and defensive end positions, Bowen displayed solid pass rushing ability as he made the adjustment to the speed of the professional game as a rookie. Originally signed as an undrafted rookie free agent in 2006, Bowen showed enough promise to earn a spot on the Cowboys practice squad after a productive training camp. He was moved to the active roster by the midway point of the '06 regular season.

2006: After a rookie training camp that allowed Bowen the opportunity to stay on with the Cowboys on the team's practice squad, he was elevated to the team's active roster after eight games on November 7. He was inactive for his first seven games on the active roster and saw his only regular season action in the season ending loss to Detroit (12/31). He responded to his inaugural splashed of NFL action with one tackle and his first career sack, dropping Lions quarterback John Kitna for a six-yard loss. He was inactive again in the wildcard playoff loss at Seattle (1/6).

COLLEGE: Bowen finished his career at Hofstra with 168 tackles, 11.5 sacks and one interception that he returned for a touchdown. In his senior campaign, he posted 11 tackles behind the line of scrimmage and two passes defensed. As a junior he registered a career-high nine tackles at New Hampshire and recorded eight stops twice more while posting a career-high 68 tackles for the season. Bowen played in all 12 games as a sophomore recording 49 stops, three sacks and one fumble recovery on the year. He saw action in five games as a freshman, tallying three tackles.
