There’s a new sign up on Mesa street this morning. It’s right in the middle of the Cincinnati party zone, over by the UT El Paso Campus. While it’s not a traffic sign it’s meant as a grim reminder to drivers. It’s the first sign here that’s part of the Texas Department of Transportation program that puts signs at crash sites reminding motorists of the dangers of drunken driving. This one honors 24-year old Amanda Carrasco, who died March 14, 2007, as she crossed Mesa.
