2 die in a very violent accident

This morning we know speed was at least part of the blame, later on we’ll find out if alcohol was also a factor. Either way, Rene Ortiz, 25, and Yadira Gutierrez, 26, died when they slammed into the side of the medical building at Mesa and Argonaut. It closed down Mesa from the intersection with Festival to the intersection with Argonaut for most of the day. Ortiz was speeding when he lost control of the sports car, ran off the hill where Argonaut ends.  The car rolled over several times before crashing into the window. Neither were wearing their seatbelts they become the 18th and 19th fatalities of the year.
