He's a 6-year-old boy who is at the center of an abuse case in Las
Cruces. We can't tell you his name, but his father, Robert Baker, is
in a lot of trouble for spanking him so hard that it left the boy with
swollen parts from his legs to his back. Baker's been handed two
charges of intentional child abuse. They say the problems stretch back
past the first of this month. The boy told PD that he doesn't feel
safe in his own home. Baker says he's hit the boy for misbehavior only
five times. The boy's mother is in trouble, too. Erin Small is staring
at doing time for letting the abuse happen. Baker has bonded out.
