Bowie High school's TAKS test scores have been so low for so long that the federal government has told the district unless they bring them up, everyone at the school -- from janitors and cafeteria workers to teachers and administrators -- will have to go and reapply for their jobs. This morning El Paso’s south-side school is staring at some pretty bad sanctions from the state, because of persistently having low academic marks.

The District is sending a new principal to the South Side school. And teachers, neighbors and alumni at Bowie trying to help out. If the state cleans house there’s no guarantee they’ll be re-hired.
