Mayor says he’ll keep others from taking over property illegally

City leaders talked for more than two hours over change to the city’s eminent-domain ordinance. That’s where the city can force the sale of property that is neither run down nor needed for a public use, like a street or park. The new law would have made it tougher but while it was turned down the mayor says he’ll keep others from taking over property illegally.

The city's Downtown Redevelopment Plan has hit all kinds of road blocks because of the eminent domain fight.
