Despite all the "gloom and doom" recession reports, El Paso businesses expect a strong Valentine's Day season. Valentine's Day, February 14th, is the second-busiest day of the year for the restaurant industry, behind Mother's Day, according to the National Restaurant Association. The association reported Tuesday that U.S. consumers would spend an estimated $17.02 billion on Valentine's Day this year, up just 0.7 percent from the $16.9 billion spent in 2007. The average consumer will be spending $122.98 this year, according to the forecasts.
